Senior Consultant

Dr. Robert A. Lodder is a Senior Science Advisor at Spherix Consulting Group as well as a Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy. He has joint appointments at the University in the Analytical Chemistry division of the Department of Chemistry and the Electrical and Computer Engineering department in the College of Engineering, and an active interdisciplinary research group that averages about a dozen members. He has over 25 years of experience with drugs and medical devices. He is an entrepreneur and has designed and operated laboratories and facilities for drug discovery, drug development, and device development, and has 28 patents and pending patent applications for inventions made in the laboratories. At Spherix Consulting Group, Dr. Lodder provides computer simulation and modeling support to the company as well as drug and medical device expertise.

Dr. Thomas Sox is a consultant with over 34 years of experience in consumer goods, OTC pharmaceuticals, foods, and dietary supplements. Dr. Sox’s expertise includes broad skills in management of internal and external research projects, intellectual property development, technology evaluation, and rapid mastery of new science areas. His legal expertise focuses on intellectual property law. He is a professional member of the American Society for Microbiology, the American Association for Advancement of Science, the American Society for Nutrition, and the Pennsylvania Bar Association. Dr. Sox has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has received seven issued U.S. patents.

Dr. Hayes is a toxicologist with more than 35 years of experience in industry and academics. He is a Senior Consultant at Spherix Consulting Group, providing strategic, scientific and regulatory guidance. Dr. Hayes also holds appointments at the Harvard School of Public Health as a Visiting Scientist and with the School of Public Health, University of Massachusetts, Amherst as a Research Professor. Previously, Dr. Hayes held the position of Vice President and Corporate Toxicologist for RJR Nabisco with responsibility for all regulatory and toxicology issues related to the safety of ingredients and food contact substances for food and drink products worldwide. Subsequently, as Corporate Vice-President of Product Integrity at the Gillette Company, he had management responsibility for the safety evaluation and regulatory compliance of a variety of consumer products, plant safety, environmental stewardship, and quality control. Dr. Hayes has interacted with regulatory bodies worldwide including Canada, Japan, South Korea, EU and Latin America as well as the US FDA. the US EPA and the US DOD. Dr Hayes is currently a member of the Food Advisor Committee, US Food and Drug Administration.

Dr. Roger A. Clemens is Associate Director of the Regulatory Science program and Adjunct Professor of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences within the USC School of Pharmacy. He formerly served as the consulting Scientific Advisor for ETHorn, and is currently a senior consultant with Spherix Consulting Group, providing strategic, scientific and regulatory guidance for clients. Dr. Clemens was the Director of Analytical Research at USC for 5 years, and the Scientific Advisor for Nestlé USA for more than 21 years. He has published more than 50 original manuscripts in nutrition and food science, participated in more than 200 invited domestic and international lectures, and served as an expert panel member for the food industry, scientific organizations, trade associations and regulatory agencies in the United States and Canada.

Dr. Pressman is Vice President, Medicine Public Health & Nutrition at The Daedalus Foundation, Alexandria, Virginia, and Director of Medical Operations at Polyscience Consulting in Chatsworth, California. He is a graduate of Bowdoin College, the University of Chicago, and Northwestern University Medical School, and was trained at the University of Wisconsin and Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center. After serving as Assistant Professor of Medicine, Director of Educational Programs of the Pacific Center for Health Policy & Ethics, and Associate Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program, all at University of Southern California/Keck School of Medicine, he attended at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and later deployed in the Developing World as a Naval Medical Officer.
